Ways to downsize and get rid of clutter for a better lifestyle and your freedom of movement.

Surprisingly, the end-of-life chapter may be filled with many moves. Each one will probably make you to downsize. It’s hard to leave your home and say goodbye to neighbors and friends. Deciding what to bring along is hard too. A successful move requires organization.
First, you have to figure out how much space you’ll have in the new location. A floorplan with room size is very helpful.
Once you know how much room you’ll have, you’re going to have to decide what to take. Take measurements of the things you want to take. Have a love one or friend make a new layout with all your belongings. Don’t forget to add space to move around on foot, with a walker, or in a wheelchair.
Even if you aren’t leaving your home, you’ll probably need to move around the furniture, remove tripping hazards, and make bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, and living areas more accessible. Here too a floor plan is great.
Separate your things into three groups – keepers, donations, and trash. Sort, get movers, arrange for charity pick-up or drop-off, and send to dump. Don’t go it alone and don’t get hurt. Call on family, friends, and professional movers to help.
If all the favorite items don’t fit in the new or modified space, consider other ways to keep cherished memories.
